The Football for Schools (F4S) Programme under the Ministry of Education, Government of India in collaboration with FIFA was today organized at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Rymbai, the nodal centre for East Jaintia Hills District. The initiative aims to make football more accessible to school students by integrating the sport into the education system while promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and holistic development.

            The football distribution ceremony was attended by the District School Education Officer (DSEO), East Jaintia Hills District, Shri R. Diengdohin the presence of Principal of JNV Rymbai Dr. R. Kumar, along with other officials, teachers and others.

            The event underscored the importance of sports in education and highlighted the Government’s commitment to youth development through national and international collaboration.

            Addressing the gathering, District School Education Officer (DSEO), East Jaintia Hills District, Shri R. Diengdoh expressed his honour at being part of the initiative, describing the collaboration between the Ministry of Education and FIFA as a significant step toward strengthening sports culture in schools. He emphasized that football is not merely a sport but a platform for instilling vital life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. He appreciated the enthusiasm among the students and expressed confidence that the programme would inspire many to actively engage in sports activity. He also conveyed his gratitude to the school administrationparticularly the principal, teachers, and stafffor their dedication to education and youth development in the district.

            Encouraging the students, Shri Diengdoh urged them to make the most of the opportunity provided through the programme by working hard and striving for excellence. He added that with determination and regular practice anyone could become a better footballer.

The programme concluded with the formal kick-off by the Chief Guest, marking the successful launch of the initiative in the district. It may be mentioned that a total of 112 FIFA footballs were distributed to 29 schools of East Jaintia Hills District.

            Other highlights of the programme included cultural dance performances by students and a friendly football match between the students of JNV Rymbai and participating schools.
