The Valedictory Programme of the 2-Week Induction Training Programme (ITP) for 85 newly recruited Lower Division Assistants (LDAs) under the Secretariat Administration Department, Government of Meghalaya, was held on 12th May, 2026 at the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI), Mawdiangdiang. The programme marked the successful completion of the induction training conducted in two batches from 15th April to 12th May, 2026, aimed at equipping the newly recruited officials with essential knowledge, skills, and professional values required in government service.

The programme was graced by Shri Sosthenes Sohtun, Hon’ble Minister In-charge, Secretariat Administration Department, Govt. of Meghalaya as the Chief Guest. In his address, he stated that such induction training programmes provide a strong foundation for newly recruited officials and play a significant role in preparing them to effectively discharge their responsibilities in government administration. He emphasised the importance of discipline, integrity, accountability, professionalism, and dedication in public service, while reminding the participants that LDAs play a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Secretariat and citizen-centric governance.

The Hon’ble Minister further highlighted that governance and public administration today have become increasingly technology-driven, making it essential for government employees to continuously learn, adapt, and upgrade their skills. He appreciated the inclusion of sessions on Artificial Intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and Perplexity, stating that such digital tools would support efficiency, innovation, and improved service delivery for the people of Meghalaya. He also encouraged the participants to remain committed to lifelong learning and conveyed his best wishes for a successful and meaningful career in public service.

Shri Swapnil Tembe, Director, MATI, in his address, highlighted the importance of structured induction training in shaping responsible and competent public servants. He stated that LDAs form the backbone of the Meghalaya Secretariat and stressed the importance of accuracy, timeliness, responsibility, professionalism, and ethical conduct in official duties. He also underscored the significance of Mission Karmayogi and self-learning initiatives through platforms such as iGOT, encouraging participants to continuously enhance their competencies and remain future-ready in an evolving administrative environment. He further remarked that behind every official file and administrative process lies a human story, making work ethics, sensitivity, and commitment to public welfare essential qualities for every government employee.

The programme was also attended by Dr. Twinkle S. R. Marak, MCS, Joint Director, MATI who delivered the vote of thanks, along with the Faculty Members and Staff of MATI.
