Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Shillong Unit, successfully organised a Marathon on 9 July 2026 to commemorate National Students’ Day, which also marks the Foundation Day of ABVP. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and youth from different parts of Shillong.

Despite continuous rainfall during the morning hours, the spirit and enthusiasm of the participants remained undeterred. A large number of students and young people took part in the marathon, demonstrating their commitment to physical fitness, discipline, and the ideals of nation-building promoted by ABVP.

The winners of the Marathon were honoured with cash prizes, mementoes, and certificates in recognition of their outstanding performance.

3rd Prize: Junom Phawa

Girls’ Category

1st Prize: Larijanai Wartde

2nd Prize: Ibashongkun Kurbah

3rd Prize: Dajes Syiemsad

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Salony Bareh, Vice-President of ABVP Meghalaya, highlighted the vision, aims, and objectives of ABVP as the world’s largest student organisation. She encouraged students and youth to become active members of ABVP and contribute towards character building, leadership development, social service, and nation-building. She emphasised that ABVP provides a platform for young people to develop their leadership potential while working for educational reforms and the welfare of society.

The programme concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, where the winners were felicitated amid loud cheers from the participants. ABVP Shillong Unit expressed its gratitude to all the participants, volunteers, supporters, and well-wishers who contributed to the success of the event despite the inclement weather.
