As of January 7, 2026, the Union Health Ministry of India has officially announced that over 50,000 public health facilities have now been certified under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS). This milestone, which includes nearly 49,000 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, reflects a massive effort to standardize and improve healthcare quality, safety, and patient care across the country. To build on this momentum, the government has set an ambitious interim goal to have at least 50% of all public healthcare facilities NQAS-certified by March 2026, ensuring that high-quality medical services are accessible even in the most remote regions.
