
The Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Election), Amlarem Sub-Division observed the 16th National Voters’ Day (NVD) on 23rd January, 2026 at the Conference Hall, SDO (Civil) Office, Amlarem with the theme “My India, My Vote” (Citizen at the Heart of Indian Democracy).
As part of the celebrations, a “Run for Democracy” was conducted today morning at 6:00 AM, in which about 43 runners from different age categories participated enthusiastically. The Painting Competition and Essay Writing Competition were held yesterday with active participation from students and community members.
The formal programme was chaired by Dr. Kavery Rabha, MCS, Assistant Commissioner, who delivered the welcome address and also led the gathering in taking the Voters’ Pledge, reaffirming commitment to uphold democratic values and to vote freely, fairly and ethically. The Chief Guest, Smt. Vevotolu Kezo, IAS, Sub-Divisional Officer (Election), Amlarem, in her keynote address emphasized that the strength of democracy lies in the active participation of citizens and encouraged everyone not only to vote but also to motivate others to register and participate in elections.
Short speeches were delivered by Shri Sony Suting, BLO and Shri Browel Sumer, BLO Supervisor, who highlighted the role of Booth Level Officers in strengthening voter awareness and inclusion, especially among youth and first-time voters.
During the programme, EPIC cards were distributed to new electors, followed by the distribution of prizes to winners of the Run for Democracy, Painting Competition and Essay Writing Competition.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Shri J. Tongper, who expressed appreciation to the district administration, police department, health department, Amlarem Sub-Division Sports Association, Booth Level Officers, BLO Supervisors, volunteers, students, and staff of the SDO (Election) office for their cooperation in making the celebrations successful.
The event reaffirmed the spirit that citizens are at the heart of democracy and encouraged voters to exercise their franchise freely, ethically and fearlessly.
