
With the initiative to provide a common venue for community functions, meetings and activities and to support local farmers through improved storage systems,an Agricultural Storage Unit-cum-Community Hall funded under DMF Scheme, East Jaintia Hills District for the financial year 2024–25and further supported by Dorbar Shnong, Moopalawas inaugurated today the 3rdDecember, 2025 by Sutnga-Saipung MLA, Smti. Santa Mary Shylla at Moopala Village, East Jaintia Hills District.
The inaugural function was also attended by Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri Shivansh Awasthi, IAS, Junior Rural Development Officer (JRDO), Wapung C&RD Block, Smt. N Dkhar, Headman of Moopala Village, Shri. J.L Bamon, Village Secretary, Shri. D.Dkhar, Community Members and others.

In her address during the programme,Sutnga-Saipung MLA, Smti. Santa Mary Shylla commended the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills Districtfor facilitating the effectiveimplementation of various schemes and programmes in the rural areas of East Jaintia Hills Districteven as she highlighted to the gathering the importance and essence of Community Halls,emphasizing that the halls serve as venues for diverse events. She also expressed optimism that in the future, more villages wouldreceivefunding through the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Scheme for building and upgrading community halls.
Additionally, she also announced a contribution of Rs. 5 lakh from the Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP) to further enhance the vicinities of the hall, aiming to make the area more beautiful.
Further, Smti. Shylla, while expressing appreciation to community membersfor their valuable contributions to community developmentalso urged the Headman and other community members to take proper care of the asset inaugurated and ensure its optimum utilization for the benefit of the community. Shehighlighted that this is the first community hall inaugurated under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) scheme in the area and encouraged attendees to set an example for others by maintaining the hall and utilizing it effectively. She called upon the community to make the hall a hub for all types of gatherings, ensuring it serves as a lasting asset for the village.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia hills district, Shri. Shivansh Awasthi, IAS in his addresscongratulatedMoopala Village on the successful completion of the Agricultural Storage Unit-cum-Community Hall even as he highlightedthat East Jaintia Hills District is abundantly blessed with natural resources and industries operating in the region have significantly contributed to the District Mineral Fund (DMF) and stated that this financial support is being utilized effectively for the overall development of the district in the health, sports, education, skill development sectors, etc.

Further, Shri. Awasthi, also informed the gathering that recently a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) has been signed with Mih-Myntdu Community Social Welfare Association (MCSWA) for a new Drug Rehabilitation Centre under DMF funding, with building renovation already in progress.
Concluding his address, Shri Awasthi expressed hope that the new Community Hall will serve as a year round space for events and community activities.
Other officials including the Junior Rural Development Officer (JRDO),Wapung C&RD Block, Smti. N. Dkharalso addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of such projects in enhancing community welfare and agricultural productivity.
