In an effort to create conducive sports atmosphere in the district and to promote greater sports participation and inclusivity among women, the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Meghalaya, Shillong in collaboration with the office of the District Sports Officer, East Jaintia Hills District and Rymbai Government Higher Secondary School Khelo India Centre on Saturday, the 08th March, 2025, organized an Archery Tournament at Rymbai Wahshnong Playground, East Jaintia Hills District.
The event was attended by District Sports Officer (DSO), East Jaintia Hills District, Smti. Stephanie M. Rapsang in the presence of Principal, Rymbai Government Higher Secondary School, Smti. Younilas Lamare, Finance Secretary, Rymbai Village, Shri C. F Bareh, General Secretary, East Jaintia Hills District Sports Association (EJDSA), Shri Coming Tlang and several others.
The tournament featured the enthusiastic participation of women of the area in the Senior, Junior and Sub-Junior categories. Cash awards were given to the winners and runners up of the Individual Category with first prize winners being given a cash award of Rs. 1500/-, second prize Rs. 1000/- and third prize Rs. 500/-.
In the Senior Individual Category, Isabella Tlang won the first prize followed by Gratify Nongpluh and Aibanhun Lyngdoh in the second and third prizes respectively.
In the Junior Individual Category, Jasmine Nongpluh secured the first prize, Ebanroiki Bareh bagged the second prize and Fatima Lyngdoh the third prize. In the Sub-Junior Individual Category, Philawanshwa Thoo, Tredaka Nongtdu and Victoria Rymbaiwon the first, second and third prices respectively.
