The 6th Meghalaya Games, 2025 continued with great energy on Day 3 as athletes from across the state showcased their talent in various Track & Field events. The excitement among the participants and spectators kept on increasing as each event unfolded. 

In the 5000m men’s race, Daniel Lyngdoh Wahlang from East Khasi Hills District (EKHD) secured the top position with a time of 16:03.42 seconds. Kresstarjune Pathaw of South West Khasi Hills District (SWKHD) and Banjoplang Wanniang from West Khasi Hills (WKH) claimed the second and third spots after a remarkably close finish.

In the women’s category, Gloryfy Kurbah of EKHD won the gold medal, completing the race in 20:16.21 seconds. She was followed by Balasiewdor Pathaw (SWKHD) and Phyrnai Kahyndait (East Jaintia Hills District), who took silver and bronze, respectively.

The high jump event saw great performances as Simeon Marak from North Garo Hills (NGHD) and Terang N Sangma from East Garo Hills (EGHD) both cleared 1.83 meters to share the first position. Primus Ronghi of Ri-Bhoi District secured third place. In the women’s high jump, Ri-Bhoi’s Rinalis Ingti and Anrisha Klein tied for gold with a height of 1.51 meters. Jerikchi S Sangma of South Garo Hills (SGHD) earned the bronze with a jump of 1.48 meters. 

The 100m races were among the highlights of the day. Henry Yoga A Sangma of NGHD won the men’s final with a time of 11.15 seconds, while Renaldi Dhar of West Jaintia Hills (WJHD) and Hopefulson Lyngdoh of WKH finished second and third. In the women’s 100m final, Himonki Khaii from the host district i.e. the WJHD claimed the top spot in 13.67 seconds, followed by Pringchi R Marak of SGHD and Riyoka Rymbai of EKHD.

In the 800m final, Eleven Dkhar from East Jaintia Hills (EJHD) finished first in the men’s category with a time of 2:01.42 seconds. His teammate Rishanmeki Ryngkhlem secured silver, while Daemiryntihki Pakma of WJHD took bronze. In the women’s event, Bethlyne Grace Makri of EKHD finished first with a time of 2:37.72 seconds. Monlangki Kyndait from WJHD came in second, and Daplin Wahlang from SWKHD finished third. Day-4 of the Games would be further exciting with 10,000 m race, long jumps, relay races and multiple events, to take place at the Wahiajer Sports Complex, Jowai. (ADIPR-J)
