The Department of Financial Services, Government of India, under its “Your Money, Your Rights” a special public awareness campaign, will organize a district-level awareness and assistance camp on the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund (DEA Fund) on 14th November in East Khasi Hills district. The initiative aims to empower citizens by educating them about their financial rights and assisting them in reclaiming unclaimed deposits, insurance claims, dividends, shares and mutual funds.
The campaign is being implemented across Meghalaya under the leadership of the District Collector and the guidance of the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC), Meghalaya with coordination by the Lead Bank of each district. All banks, insurance companies, pension departments, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF) will take part in the awareness programme.
In East Khasi Hills, the camp will be held from 11 am at the DC Office Conference Room under the supervision of the District Collector and the Lead District Manager. Assistance counters will be set up to help citizens with KYC updates, filling of claim forms and document verification to facilitate the process of claiming their rightful financial assets.
The SLBC-Meghalaya, urged citizens to participate actively, reaffirming its commitment to promoting financial literacy and enabling convenient access to rightful financial benefits across all districts of the State. Under this campaign, several such camps will be organized in different districts of Meghalaya in a phased manner till 31st December 2025.
