
The District Administration of East Khasi Hills District hosted a career guidance program today the 02nd March, 2026 at Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong, to sensitize and prepare the local youth for the upcoming Agniveer (Indian Army) and Agniveervayu (Indian Air Force) recruitment drives 2026.
The program was graced by Smti. R. M. Kurbah, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, alongside Shri S. Warjri, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District. Strategic insights were provided by Col. Vinay Kumar, Director of the Army Recruiting Office, Retired Lt. Colonel Sebastian Marbaniang, Zila Sainik Welfare Officerand resource person from the Indian Air Force. The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Smti. R. M. Kurbah, IAS urged the local youth to seize this opportunity, noting that rallies will be held in Shillong for maximum accessibility. She highlighted the program’s success, mentioning that over 700 regional candidates joined the Agniveer and BSF last year, proving the impact of such guidance sessions.During the career guidance session, Col. Vinay Kumar, Director of the Army Recruiting Office, provided aspirants with a comprehensive roadmap for the Agniveer recruitment process for 2026. Drawing from his extensive experience, he encouraged the youth to register promptly, announcing that the registration window remains open until 1st April 2026. Col. - Registration Deadline: Aspirants must complete their online registration by 1stApril 2026.
- Examination Timeline: The online entrance examinations are scheduled to take place from 1stJune, 2026 to 15thJune, 2026.
- Physical Standards for Women:
- The baseline height requirement is 162 cm.
- Special Relaxation: Candidates from the North East Region, as well as Gorkha and Garhwali candidates, are eligible for a 4 cm relaxation, bringing the minimum height requirement to 158 cm.
- Physical Fitness Test (1.6 Km Run):
- Group I: Candidates must complete the run within 7 minutes and 30 seconds.
- Group II: Time allotted is between 7 minutes 31 seconds and 8 minutes.
- Selection Stages: The process will include a Physical Fitness Test, Physical Measurement Test, and a subsequent Medical Examination.
Col. Kumar emphasized the long-term benefits of the Agniveer scheme, urging the youths of Meghalaya to take the first step toward a prestigious career in the Indian Army by completing their registrations on time.
Addressing the aspirants, the Wing Commander announced that the upcoming Agniveervayu recruitment rally will be held in Shillong, specifically for candidates across the North Eastern States. He laid special emphasis on female recruitment, noting that the current intake capacity for women is high and urging them to seize this opportunity.

- Rally Date & Venue: The open recruitment rally is scheduled for March 20, 2026, at Headquarter Eastern Air Command, Nonglyer, Upper Shillong.
- Eligibility & Academics: Candidates must have passed Intermediate/10+2 or an equivalent examination in any stream with at least 50% aggregate marks and 50% marks in English.
- Physical Standards: Minimum height requirements are set at 152 cm for males and 147 cm for females from the North East.
- Selection Process: The examination sequence will consist of a Physical Test followed by a Written Examination.
- Career Path: Under the Agniveervayu scheme, up to 25% of Agniveers will be enrolled into the permanent cadre based on performance.
