On 18th November 2025, the District Legal Services Authority, West Jaintia Hills District, organized a Crime Review Conference to assess the prevailing law and order situation, review crime trends, and strengthen coordination among concerned departments and agencies.

The conference was chaired by Smt. D. G. Kharshiing, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA and attended by esteemed panel including the District and Sessions Judge, West Jaintia Hills District; the Special Judge, POCSO; the Superintendent of Police; the District Medical and Health Officer; the Scientific Officer, Mobile Clinic Forensic Crime Scene Unit, Directorate of Forensic Sciences, Meghalaya; the Public Prosecutor and Special Public Prosecutor; and representatives from the District Social Welfare Office and the District Prison and Correctional Home.

A total of 70 participants, primarily comprising police personnel engaged in criminal case investigation and prosecution, attended the conference.

The conference featured in-depth discussions on law enforcement challenges, inter-agency cooperation, and updates on legal procedures, with particular focus on the implications of Supreme Court judgments guidelines such as Arnesh Kumar v. State of Bihar…etc. The sessions emphasized the importance of proper arrest protocols, protection of individual rights, and coordinated investigation strategies.

During the interactive session and Q&A, participants shared practical insights and collaborative solutions.

While delivering the vote of thanks, Shri L. M. M. A. Rymbai, Judicial Magistrate First Class, expressed appreciation to all participants for their commitment and contributions.
