The Special Judge (POCSO) Court in East Jaintia Hills District has sentenced Batista Paslein to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment for committing an offence against a minor. The judgment was delivered by Smti. B. Khriam, Special Judge (POCSO), on completion of the trial.
Paslein was also fined ₹50,000 for the offence punishable under Section 4(1) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The case originated from an FIR lodged at the Khliehriat Women Police Station, following which a case was registered under Section 376(1) of the IPC read with Sections 3(a)/4 of the POCSO Act. The investigation, conducted by WPSI O. Tyngkan, led to the submission of the charge sheet (CS No. 12/24) on April 14, 2024.
The Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, stated that meticulous investigation ensured that the accused was brought to justice.
