During the post-meeting interaction, Chairman Shri Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, remarked:
“We had a very fruitful meeting between the Government Assurances Committees of Meghalaya and Madhya Pradesh. It was a productive exchange of ideas and experiences. Both committees share similar responsibilities — to monitor the assurances given by Ministers on the floor of the House and ensure that concerned departments follow through on their commitments.
The discussion helped reinforce the importance of these Committees in maintaining accountability and transparency in governance. By sharing our procedures and insights, we aim to strengthen the role of Government Assurances Committees in ensuring that ministerial commitments translate into actionable outcomes for the people. Such inter-legislative interactions are beneficial not only for our respective Assemblies but also for the departments involved, as they reinforce the mechanisms of democratic oversight.”
