The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and the National Service Scheme (NSS), will host the State Round of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025 on March 27, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM at the Lariti International Centre for Performing Arts and Culture, Mawkasiang.
The Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament is a visionary initiative by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, aligning with the Viksit Bharat@2047 framework envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. This initiative is aimed at encouraging youth participation in policymaking, governance, and national discourse, building upon the Prime Minister’s call of engaging one lakh youth in politics.
The event will provide a structured platform for youth aged 18-25 years to engage in discussions across different levels, including District Node, State, and National Rounds. Participants will deliberate on societal issues, fostering informed public discourse and enhancing their decision-making abilities. The initiative also aims to cultivate respect for diverse perspectives and highlight the importance of disciplined dialogue within democratic institutions.
The topics for deliberation at the state round are “75 Years of the Indian Constitution: A Journey of Rights, Duties, and Progress” and “The 11 Sankalp of Samvidhan Divas: A Pledge to Strengthen India’s Constitutional Values.”
The top 3 selected from each state will move to the National Level, where they will speak on the topic “One Nation, One Election: Simplifying Democracy, Amplifying Progress, Ensuring Stability.”
A key feature of this year’s Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament is its inclusive format at the National Round. Unlike previous editions where only state champions had an opportunity to share their ideas, each participant qualifying from the state rounds will have a golden chance to speak during the opening and closing remarks and the moderated caucuses.
The event will culminate in the drafting of a final resolution, consolidating the most insightful and pragmatic ideas presented by the finalists. This resolution will be presented before prominent media houses, bringing youth-driven policy recommendations to the national spotlight.
