
The Meghalaya Editors’ and Publishers’ Association (MEPA) held its General Meeting at Shillong Club on September 6, 2025, where new office bearers were elected for a three-year term.
R Monarch Shabong was re-elected as President, while John W. Thabah retained his position as General Secretary.
The meeting elected five Vice Presidents — Dr. Kamal K. Jhunjhunwala, Rajib Choudhuri, Markus M. Thaïang, Raphael Warjri and Russel Nongrum. John Lyngdoh and Purbasha Bhattacharjee were chosen as Joint Secretaries, while Kyrmen Uriah and Deimebanda Blah were re-elected as Organising Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
Seven Executive Members were also elected, namely Justice Marweiñ, E. M. Jose, Apporlet Shabong, Starfing Pdahkasiej, Deimaïa Siangshai, Dominic Savio Diengdoh, Banker Lapang and Mrs. Sunday Sumer.
The meeting also deliberated on various issues concerning media houses and journalists in the State.
The open session of the General Meeting was graced by Information and Public Relations Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, along with Commissioner & Secretary (IPR) Vijay Kumar Mantri and Director of Information and Public Relations Batlang Sohliya.
