Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs Department Shri. Wailadmiki Shylla had an interaction with the selected Outstanding Students & Star Performers prior to their Exposure Trip to visit the Hon’ble President of India and attend the Winter Session of Parliament, 2025 in the presence of Shri Abhinav Kumar Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar) Jowai Smt. Vevotolu Kezo, IAS, Assistant Commissioner Shri. F. Passah, MCS in the Conference Hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Jowai.
Shri. Wailadmiki Shylla under whose leadership the programme became a reality, commended the Deputy Commissioner for making the initiative successful. He also commended the SDO (Sadar) Jowai and all the teachers for their contribution and encouraged the students to participate actively, ask questions and use the opportunity to build confidence and broaden their perspectives.
Deputy Commissioner Shri. Abhinav Kumar Singh stated the programme was conceived through discussions with the Minister to expose youth to diverse career paths and help them realise their potential.
During the trip the students will get an opportunity to interact with the Hon’ble President of India, tour Rashtrapati Bhavan and its museum, witness a live session of Parliament and visit Nehru Planetarium.
He further informed that, if time permits the students may also be taken to other museums of archaeological sites in Delhi.
A total of 17 students will be accompanied by youth Icons Ms. Sawakani Lakiang (Winner of Gold Medal at Women category Bikini Model and the only female from Meghalaya winning Procard Holder at an event held in Mumbai organised by South Asian Association for regional Cooperation) and Mr.Alexender Lyngdoh (winning the National Arm Wrestling & Para Arm Wrestling Championship 2025) along with mentor Shri. Iaidbha Phawa, Assistant Research Officer and Shri. Kynphammi Ryngkhlem, Research Assistant of Planning Branch, DC, Office, Jowai to guide them throughout the programme with all logistics, including travel and accommodation have been arranged by the District Administration. The team will depart today and will return on 13th December, 2025.
