The Fire incident occurred on the 22 February at mid-day at Raliang Village nearby SBI Bank junction that falls within Raliang Village, West Jaintia Hills District that one Truck six wheeler bearing Registration Number ML 05 J 2828 which is fully loaded with “Dry Broom” proceeding towards Mawiong, East Khasi Hills District caught fire due to contact with live electrical wire lines. But luckily the fire has been controlled due to swift action of the Driver, handyman and locals available there risking their own life. If the fire was not extinguished on time it might turn out disastrous to the said vehicle, the surrounding and the other vehicles parked there.
Therefore, “the Dorbar Shnong Raliang requested the concerned Department The office of MPDCL (Meghalaya Public Distribution Corporation Limited) Shangpung Division to look at this matter seriously and take swift action in fixing those 11 KV live wires to avoid an unfortunate incident in the future. As those 11 KV live wire is crossing through SH-06 roads where long and tall heavy loaded Vehicles are plying and moving through it which create panic and discomfort to drivers from time to time”.
The Dorbar Shnong has already submitted the complaint to the Office of Sub Divisional Officer MPDCL , Shangpung Division on 17-09-2018 and on 13-08-2020.
And this issue along with others such as the damage of Electrical pole, Non fencing of Transformer has already been raised to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya at CM CONNECT program which was held at Shangpung on the 31-07-2024 where the assurance has been made by the CM and MPDCL office to fixed it. But sadly till Date no action has been taken to fix this long pending serious issue. Therefore, once again the Dorbar Shnong request the Concerned Department to kindly fix this issue at the earliest to avoid an unfortunate incident in the coming days.
