The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District in a press release issued has informed that Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation, Chennai has instituted four awards, each carrying a sum of Rs. 10,00,000 (Rupees Ten Lakhs), a citation and a memento in the fields of Non-violence and Vegetarianism, Education, Medicine and Community and Social Service.
The aim of the Foundation is to identify, nurture, encourage and honour individuals and institutions who are engaged in providing selfless service to the society and also encourage others to follow suit.
