
Providing a boost to the health care scenario in areas under Pamrapaithlu PHC under Wapung Block, East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya Cabinet Minister, Shri Kyrmen Shylla today the 2nd April 2025 handed over a new ambulance procured under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Scheme for the year 2024-2025 to Pamrapaithlu PHC at a function held in the premises of the PHC.
Also present during the occasion were Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri Shivansh Awasthi, Block Development Officer, Wapung C&RD Block, Dr T. Shylla, District Medical & Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Dr D. Shylla, Medical &Health Officer, Pamrapaithlu PHC, Dr. (Mrs.) R. Suchiang, other health officials, traditional heads and people of the area.

Addressing thegathering, Cabinet Minister, Shri Kyrmen Shylla expressed happiness in being able to hand over the new ambulance to officials ofthe PHC and commendedthe Deputy Commissionereven as heaffirmed that the new ambulance made available was the combined effort of stakeholders particularly the Deputy Commissioner who has worked tirelessly in securing funds to address the health care needs of the people of thearea.
Furthermore, in relation to the petition made by the Synjuk Dorbar Shnong Pamrapaithlu PHC seeking upgradation of the PHC to CHC level, Shri Shylla stated that he will take up the matter with the Health Minister and the Chief Minister even as he informed that the government is committed to provide the best available services to address the health care needs of the people and further called for collaborative efforts of all concerned stakeholders.

Additionally, Shri Shylla urged the PHC officials to properly utilize the ambulance in order to ensure its longevity and effectiveness with regards toconveyance of patients.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri Shivansh Awasthi in his speech expressed hope that the ambulance will provide optimum services to the people of the area while also taking the occasion to emphasize on the importance of institutional delivery in order to reduce maternal mortality rate. Further, he also pointed out that providing better facilities is one way to encourage people to come to PHCs. After the programme, the dignitaries led by the Cabinet Minister inspected the office of the Block Development Officer, Wapung C&RD Block whose construction is nearing completion.
