The Poshan Maah programme conducted by ICDS, Health department and Education department concluded on Monday 30.09.2024,the programme was held at Syiem Jingsuk Hall, Amlarem with Dr. a Sani, IAS as Chief Guest and Smt. R. Passah, Assistant Commissioner for Person with disabilities as the guest of honour. 

            Speaking as the Chief Guest Sani said both the Central and state government are working together to ensure the health, growth and nutrition of children in the state. He said, that during his conversation with Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Amlarem, he came to know that current food available for children is not well received, the children and beneficiaries do not find the food recieved tasty, which effects their willingness to consume it. So there is a need to introduce locally made meals that are not just healthy but also tasty. 

            He informed that even the Principal Secretary has emphasized the importance of including locally sourced meals in the programme. Stressing that these meals added should not only be nutritious but also delicious ensuring that they are rich in iron and protein. 

            Poshan Maah is a nationwide movement for Health and Nutrition.With the themes above, various activities has been conducted and also in order to address the problem of Anaemia, the office of ICDS Amlarem have call upon all villages of Amlarem to take part in the open to all Recipee competition on locally available vegetables, fruits with a good source of Iron and Millets.

            Prize were also distrubted to the winners of the  Poshan  Maah competition under different category Non conventional food, Locally available food -village, SHG (Locally available food). The office al felicitated the Anganwadi workers for their dedication adopting, monitoring and feeding the children as advised by the NRC Jowai. The Anganwadi workers felicitated are Smt  Ralis Khyriem,  Pamtbuh Anganwadi centre of Pdengshap sector, Smt. Glorimai Lyngdohgiri, Nongtalang Khlachampa B, Nongtalang Sector and Smt. Christilin Pochen, Nongtalang Thymmai, Nongtalang Sector.
