The District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills, Shri. A.K. Singh, IAS, in exercise of the power conferred upon him under Section 163 BNSS, has issued a prohibitory order to stop the illegal collection of entry fees on the road leading to Kupli Orchid Resort, Priang Village, West Jaintia Hills.
As stated, information has been received that the Dorbar Shnong of Priang Village, West Jaintia Hills District, has been collecting Entry fees on the road leading to the Kupli Orchid resort, which is a government undertaking by the Tourism Department, Government of Meghalaya.
Based on the report from the Block Development Officer, Laskein C&RD Block, various NGOs, individuals, and owners opined that the presence of the Tollgate on the road leading to the Kupli Orchid Resort and the adjoining areas has created a lot of inconvenience and hindrance to the commuters and the citizens of the adjacent regions crossing through this road.
To prevent any further disturbance, the District Magistrate has issued a prohibitory order prohibiting such unauthorised activities with immediate effect.
