Thadlaskein: The District Institute of Education (DIET) Thadlaskein, West Jaintia Hills celebrated the Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years of Service in the field of teacher education. The opening ceremony was attended by Smt. R.S Manners, Director, Educational Research and Training, Meghalaya, as chief guest, Shri, P Lhuid, Executive Engineer PWD Building as guest of honour, Dr. (Mrs.) B. Danibha Pyrbot, Principal of DIET and faculty members, students and alumni.
Smt. R.S Manners, Director, Educational Research and Training, Meghalaya, unveiled the Jubilee Plague and officially declared the opening of the Silver Jubilee celebration. In her address, she congratulated the DIET on completing 25 years of dedicated service and commended the faculty for their unwavering dedication in nurturing and shaping educators. She highlighted the institute’s growth from BTC to DIET, with plans for future Centres of Excellences, expressing confidence that DIET would continue to make a significant contribution to education in the region.
She encouraged teacher trainees to make the most of the opportunities provided, reminding them they were specially selected from among many.
Dr. (Mrs.) B. Danibha Pyrbot, Principal of DIET, said the Silver Jubilee celebrates 25 years of trust, transformation and impact in teacher education. She highlighted the institute’s journey from its founding vision to the present, mentioning that thousands of teachers and alumni have carried the torch of quality education, emphasising that DIET’s success comes from the dedication and passion of the faculty, staff and community.
Shri, P Lhuid, Executive Engineer PWD Building also addressed the gathering.
The day was celebrated with songs, dance and various activities and position holders of the batch 2023-25 were felicitated.
Shri. Stephanson Blah welcomed all to the celebration while Shri Nathaniel O. Jyrwa delivered the vote of thanks.
Established in September 2000, DIET provides academic and resource support for programs in elementary and adult education. It serves as a model institution for effective planning, execution and maintaining a harmonious and efficient educational environment, playing a key role in shaping educators and strengthening the district education system.
