The office of the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRCSRE) – Shillong, under the administrative control of SVNIRTAR, Cuttack, Odisha, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, conducted a two-day Zonal Level CRE Programme on “An Integrative Approach – New Trends in Disability Rehabilitation” from 16th to 17th January 2025 at DERT Annex, Malki, Shillong, Meghalaya.

A total of 95 rehabilitation professionals from across North East India are set to benefit from this CRE Programme. This training initiative holds significant importance in the field of disability rehabilitation. Persons with disabilities (PwDs) often require specialized care, interventions, and support to improve their quality of life and enable their full participation in society. This training programme aims to equip professionals working in this field with the knowledge, skills, and empathy necessary to provide effective and holistic care.

The programme was chaired by Smt. Camelia Doreen Lyngwa, M.C.S., Director of Social Welfare & Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Meghalaya; Smt. R. Passah, Assistant Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Meghalaya; and Smt. Dianghunlang Chyne, Architect, Office of Chief Engineer, CPWD Shillong, Meghalaya. The training was conducted under the able guidance of Dr. Ram Shakal Sahani, Director, CRCSRE Shillong, and coordinated by Smt. Pranami Barua, Assistant Professor (Clinical Psychology), CRCSRE Shillong, and Shri. Rajesh Chettri, Assistant, CRCSRE Shillong.
