EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI) FOR SETTING UP OF WAY SIDE AMENITIES
The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat in a press release informs the general public that with the rising tourist footfall in Meghalaya, it is necessary that provisions be made for wayside amenities along the prominent routes in the State. These will include toilets, cafes, convenience stores, parking space among others and will be built in a prefab mode. This will provide the tourists, the passengers and the drivers certain minimum standards for public conveniences and wayside facilities to make their travel safe, comfortable and convenient.
In this regard, Expression of Interest (EOI) has been issued inviting applications from interested and eligible candidates/ communities wherein the Directorate of Tourism shall set up wayside amenities on the land made available by the candidates/communities. The candidates/ communities shall be responsible for operations and maintenance of the facilities and shall keep the revenue generated from such facilities. Candidates and communities with adequate land availability along the major roads/routes are invited to submit their applications based on the eligibility criteria and technical references.
The main objectives of the ‘Wayside Amenities’ scheme is to provide public convenience facilities along the major tourist routes, to enhance attractiveness and potential of the State as a preferred tourist destination, and to bring revenue to the local communities where the wayside amenities will be set up.
As per the infrastructural and technical components desired for the land parcel, the land should be located right next to a ‘national highway’ or a ‘state highway’ or a ‘major district road’. The minimum land area should be 1,000 sq. ft. (With a minimum width of 15 ft.) and there should be provisions for power connection, water connection and sewage disposal.
The Department of Tourism shall select for evaluation only those organizations which fulfill the above mentioned criteria. Additionally, the applicant should be the owner of the land or should have a lease on the land for a minimum of 10 years (Documentary Support shall be submitted).
Applicants shall submit the ‘Expression of Interest’ to the Directorate of Tourism, Nokrek Building Lower Lachumiere, Shillong, Meghalaya-793001 through physical mode/ courier/ speed post/ registered post. The applications shall be submitted along with each page of the EOI document duly signed by the applicant, Expression of Interest in Form – I, Self-declaration in Form – II, Format for Pre-bid queries in Form – III and Pre-qualification eligibility criteria Form along with supporting documents. It will be a floating ‘Expression of Interest (EOI) wherein the applications will be accepted over the next few months. The EOI shall remain valid for a period not less than 20 days after the deadline date specified for submission of the last batch of applications.
For any request received for clarification of this EOI document, the response with any amendment to this document shall be posted on the website https://www.meghalayatourism.in/ for information of all the applicants. Applicants are advised to visit the website, for any amendments to the terms and conditions, change of dates and for award of shortlisted applications.
