
As part of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Amlarem Sub-Division and in commemoration of the 5th Foundation Day of the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, the Office of the Sub-Divisional School Education Officer (SDSEO), Amlarem, in collaboration with the Office of the Sub-Registrar of Cooperative Societies (SRCS), Amlarem, organised the Amlarem Golden Jubilee Quiz Competition on Friday at the Training Hall, BDO Amlarem C&RD Block.
The programme was chaired by Smt. Diamond Khyriem. Dr. (Smt.) W. Sumer, District School Education Officer, West Jaintia Hills District, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Dr. D. Lyngdoh, Block Development Officer, Amlarem C&RD Block, attended as the Guest of Honour.
The programme commenced with the presentation of living plant bouquets to the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour as a mark of respect and a symbol of environmental consciousness. Delivering the welcome address, Smt. Wailad Nanghuloo, Sub-Divisional School Education Officer, Amlarem, said that the Golden Jubilee is a historic milestone celebrating fifty years of dedicated service, progress and development of Amlarem Sub-Division. She described the occasion as one of reflection, thanksgiving and renewed commitment, and acknowledged the contributions of visionary leaders, government officials, educators, village authorities and the people of the region in shaping the sub-division's growth over the past five decades. She urged everyone to continue working together in the spirit of unity and cooperation to ensure inclusive development and a brighter future for generations to come.
In his keynote address, Shri W. B. Pariat, Sub-Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Amlarem, highlighted the significance of commemorating the Golden Jubilee alongside the 5th Foundation Day of the Ministry of Cooperation. Emphasising the vision of "Sahkar Se Samriddhi" (Prosperity through Cooperation), he stated that the cooperative movement plays a vital role in empowering rural communities, promoting self-reliance and ensuring sustainable development. He also encouraged students to pursue knowledge with dedication and integrity, noting that education and cooperation together form the foundation of a progressive society. Addressing the gathering, Dr. (Smt.) W. Sumer, District School Education Officer, West Jaintia Hills District, congratulated the organisers for successfully conducting the Quiz Competition as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations. She underscored the importance of quality education in shaping responsible citizens and encouraged students to remain curious, disciplined and committed to lifelong learning. She also commended the participating schools for their enthusiasm and healthy competitive spirit.
The quiz competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from four schools of the Sub-Division, namely Sohkha Government Higher Secondary School, Ka Syiem Jingsuk Higher Secondary School, Padu Higher Secondary School, and Nongtalang Government Higher Secondary School.
After three competitive rounds, Sohkha Government Higher Secondary School emerged as the champion, securing 25 points. Nongtalang Government Higher Secondary School secured the second position with 20 points, while Ka Syiem Jingsuk Higher Secondary School finished third with 10 points.
Special prizes for active participation were presented to Mang Hai Ryum Higher Secondary School, Laishnong Higher Secondary School, Riwar Jaiñtia Church of God, and Padu Higher Secondary School in recognition of their enthusiastic participation and commendable performance.
Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners and participants by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Lumlangki Pohti, Assistant Engineer, BDO Amlarem C&RD Block and Member of the Education Jubilee Committee, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, participating schools, organisers and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the event.
