The two-day Block Level Chief Minister’s Youth Engagement Programme (CM-YEP) 2026 for Wapung Block organised by the office of the District Sports Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, in collaboration with the Office of the Block Development Officer, Wapung C&RD Block under the theme “Young Meghalaya, Shaping Tomorrow,” has come into conclusion today at Dkhiah West Community Hall, East Jaintia Hills District.
The concluding day of the programme was attended by District Sports Officer (DSO), East Jaintia Hills District Smti S M Rapsang, in the presence of Headman of Dkhiah West Village, Shri G. Swer, teachers, students and comunity members.
The programme featured a variety of competitions including One Act Play, Guitar Playing (Solo), Declamation, Quiz, Tug of War, Painting, Folk Dance, Folk Song, Science Mela, Poetry Writing, Story Writing and Talent Show.
Subsequently, the programme followed with a Prize distribution to all the winners and runners-up of various competitions in recognition of their outstanding performances and participation at different events organised at programme.
In the Flute Competition, Shri Robito Sanghiang of Don Bosco College secured the first position, while Shri Pynishuhmi Sympli of Khliehriat Presbyterian Higher Secondary School emerged as the runner-up.
In the Folk Song Competition, Ka Snap Creative Society secured the first position, followed by Ephatha Society in second place and Sutnga Presbyterian HSS in third place.
In the Folk Dance Competition, Ephatha Society emerged as the winner, with Ka Snap Creative Society securing the second position and Khliehriat Presbyterian HSS securing the third position.
In the Boys’ Tug-of-War competition, Wapung Higher Secondary School secured the first position, followed by Khliehriat Presbyterian Higher Secondary School in second place and Don Bosco College in third place while in the Girls’ category, Sutnga Presbyterian Higher Secondary School secured the first position, while Ephatha Society and Khliehriat Presbyterian Higher Secondary School secured the second and third positions, respectively.
In the Talent Show (Solo) category, Christopher Chyrmang of Sutnga Presbyterian Higher Secondary School secured the first position, followed by Rimiki Thoo of Rymbai Village in second place and Aishwarya Sympli of Khliehriat Presbyterian Higher Secondary School in third place.
In the Talent Show (Group) category, Ephatha Society emerged as the winner, with Jaintia Eastern College securing the second position and Khliehriat Presbyterian Higher Secondary School securing the third position.
In the Quiz Competition, Little Star Secondary School emerged as the winner, while Jaintia Eastern College secured the second position and Don Bosco College stood third.
In the Poetry Writing Competition, Aidrestar Mylliemngap of Don Bosco College emerged as the winner, Shaniahbah Shylla of Jaintia Eastern College secured the second position, while Sofia Dkhar of Little Star Secondary School secured third place.
In the Story Writing Competition, Robito Sangriang of Don Bosco College emerged as the winner, while Habidahun Shylla of Jaintia Eastern College secured the second position, Darikada-I Rymbai of Step by Step School stood third.
In the Declamation Competition, Pynhun Langia-I Syih of Jaintia Eastern College securing the first position, followed by Sakanipaya Siangshai of Khliehriat Higher Secondary School in second place and Yowanka Chyrmang of Khliehriat Presbyterian Higher Secondary School in third place.
The Science Mela witnessed Little Star Secondary School securing the first position, followed by Khliehriat Higher Secondary School in second place and Ephatha Society in third place.
In the Painting Competition, Melisha Nongtdu of Little Star Secondary School secured first place, followed by Varun Routh Bamon of Don Bosco College in second place and Pynshngain Shadap of Khliehriat Presbyterian Higher Secondary School in third place.
In the Guitar Competition, Riyanki Lyngdoh of Little Star Secondary School secured the first position, while Robito Sangriang of Don Bosco College stood second.
Meanwhile, in the One Act Play, Jaintia Eastern College secured the first position, while Khliehriat Presbyterian Higher Secondary School was declared the runner-up.
The programme aims to provide a platform for young people to showcase their talents, develop their skills and participate in activities that promote creativity, teamwork, confidence and leadership.
It may be mentioned that Cash prizes were also awarded to the winners of the various competitions. In the solo category, the first-place winner received Rs 3,000, the second-place winner Rs 2,000 and the third-place winner Rs 1,000. In the group category, the first-place winner received Rs 5,000, the second-place winner Rs 3,000 and the third-place winner Rs 2,000.
The Chief Minister’s Youth Engagement Programme (CM-YEP) continues to serve as an important platform for empowering the youth of Meghalaya, promoting leadership, creativity and positive community participation. With The Wapung Block event having been completed, the next Block Level event is set to be held on 22nd and 23rd September, 2026 at Latyrke Community Hall for students and the youth under Saipung C&RD Block.
