In view of the stalemate between Assam and Meghalaya transportation at the Assam-Meghalaya border and to facilitate the free movement of vehicles and people between the two states, the Office of the Additional Director General of Police, SB, Meghalaya, Shillong, has appointed Shri B. Nongsiej, MPS, DySP (Security), as the Nodal Officer.

The Nodal Officer will coordinate with all districts in Meghalaya as well as with counterparts in Assam. Information regarding vehicle numbers stranded in Assam and Meghalaya areas is to be shared with the Meghalaya SB Control Room and provided to the concerned District Superintendent of Police or Police Control Room for necessary assistance and escorts.

Superintendents of Police of all districts in Meghalaya have also been directed to communicate with Assam Police whenever there is a need to provide police escorts for vehicles and people proceeding towards Assam.

The above-mentioned officers will coordinate with Assam Police and will immediately inform the concerned Superintendent of Police in Meghalaya whenever there is a need to provide police escorts for vehicles coming from Assam into Meghalaya.

The order will come into effect immediately and remain in force until further order. It has been issued by the Inspector General of Police (SB), Meghalaya, Shillong.
