The Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, has issued a traffic advisory for the inauguration of the Durand Cup 2026 and the football match between Shillong Lajong FC and Nongkseh S&SCC at J.N. Stadium on July 31.
From 1:00 PM onwards, vehicles will not be allowed from Lumjingshai Junction towards CRPF Junction and from Lumjingshai Junction towards Forest Colony. Traffic will be diverted via FCI Junction and beyond.
To accommodate spectators, designated parking areas have been arranged at the SRGT Parking Lot, Red Field Ground near MPRO Quarter (Golflinks), the State Central Library premises, behind Raj Bhawan, and several one-side parking stretches along FCI Junction, Golflinks, Tiara Restaurant Junction, SMB Office, and Shillong Commerce College–B.K. Bajoria School road.
Meanwhile, parking will be prohibited along key stretches, including Pinewood Junction to BJP Office, CM Bungalow Junction to Polo Towers, Majestic Hotel (Polo) to Oakland Post Office Junction, CRPF Junction (Polo), Polo to 4th Furlong, Polo to Lawmali Junction, and Lawmali Junction to Lumjingshai Junction.
Police have urged commuters to follow the traffic arrangements and cooperate with authorities to ensure smooth movement during the event.
