The National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled (NCSC-DA), under the Directorate General of Employment (DGE), Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, Shillong organised an Exclusive Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) on Tuesday.
The initiative, organised in collaboration with the American India Foundation, aimed to promote economic empowerment and integrate PwDs into the mainstream workforce.
A total of 79 PwD candidates with Locomotor Disability (LD), Speech and Hearing Impairment (SHI), and Visual Impairment (VI) participated in the fair. Six leading employers— Reliance Retail, Domino’s Pizza, Compass Group, Teleperformance, Employment Express, and Anamata Outsourcing Pvt Ltd—offered roles such as Delivery Associate, HR Recruiter, Customer Support, and Multiple Roles. Out of the 79 candidates, 41 were shortlisted for employment opportunities.
The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Shri J.P. Lakiang, Director, Directorate of Employment, Government of Meghalaya, who attended as the Chief Guest. Shri Ram Shakal Sahani, Director, Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Shillong, participated as the Guest of Honour. Shri Jaydip Mukherjee, Project Lead, MSRLMS, Government of Meghalaya, Shri Sujit Kumar Sahoo, ADE & SREO, NCSC-DA, and Miss Revati Vishwanathan, Project Lead Manager, American India Foundation, were also present at the occasion, along with other dignitaries from various offices in Shillong.
