
With the focus of providing a hands-on learning experience, encouraging critical thinking, fostering creativity, developing communication skills, promoting teamwork and allowing students to apply their knowledge to real-world problems, the office of the District School Education Officer (DSEO), East Jaintia Hills District today the 11th March, 2025 organized a District Level Science, Mathematics & Environment Exhibition for the students of secondary schools under the theme “Science and Technology for Sustainable Future” at a programme held at Jaintia Eastern College (JEC), Khliehriat.
Present during the exhibition were Assistant Soil & Water Conservation Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Smti. R. Laloo, Assistant Professor, Jaintia Eastern College, Shri Nishwa Rymbai, Block Technology Manager from Agriculture Department, East Jaintia Hills District, Smti. Academy Sutnga, Special Educator, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri Salanbor Kamar, other officials from District School Education Office (SDSEO), East Jaintia Hills District, teachers, students and others.
The exhibition witnessed the enthusiastic participation of students from different schools across the district and featured a spectrum of topics including Strategy for reducing the amount of Sulphur-dioxide and Nitrogenoxide in the Atmosphere, Healthy living, Food, Fitness &Hygiene for a better life, Early Warning System of Earthquakes, Domestic Waste Management, Impact of Deforestation and the importance of Reforestation, etc.
After the event, certificates and cash awards were given to the winners and certificates of participation were also distributed to all the other participants. Mementos for participation were also given to the schools who participated in the exhibition.
Miss Tumpa Nath from Ambrose Memorial Secondary School, Khliehriat outshined the other participants of the exhibition by winning the First Prize followed by Miss Mehek Ansari from Little Star Secondary School, Ladrymbai and Miss Baphindarisha Dkhar from Khliehriat Higher Secondary School, Khliehriat who bagged the second and third prizes respectively.
