The Office of Deputy Commissioner (Supply), West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai has informed that as per the National Food Security Act (NFSA) 2013, government employees are not entitled to hold ration cards to get subsidized ration benefits.
In pursuance to instructions of Government of India and in streamlining the Public Distribution System (PDS), the Deputy Commissioner has instructed all Government employees of the district, having Ration Card either AAY or PHH under NFSA to voluntarily surrender their Ration Card so that subsidized ration benefits reach the genuine eligible beneficiaries. By voluntarily surrendering the Ration Card we can ensure that deserving beneficiaries have access to the subsidized ration benefits and most importantly the objective of food security is achieved.
The ration cards should be surrendered to the Office of the Deputy Commissioners (supply) on or before 15th April 2025, Room No.109 during office hours. Non-compliance to the above notice within the stipulated time frame will be dealt with accordingly as per Government rules.
