The Committee on Public Undertakings of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly carried out a spot inspection on Friday, 24th July 2025, at various industrial units in the Byrnihat Industrial Area, Ri-Bhoi District. These units have received financial assistance from the Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (MIDC Ltd.).
The inspection was led by Shri Brening A. Sangma, MLA and Chairman of the Committee. He was accompanied by Committee Members; Shri Marthon Sangma, MLA, Shri Heavingstone Kharpran, MLA, Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh, MLA, Shri Banteidor Lyngdoh, MLA and Shri Pius Marwein, MLA
The primary purpose of the visit was to evaluate the status of loan repayments by the industrial units financed by MIDC Ltd. The Committee reviewed cases of both defaulters and those making partial repayments, and urged all concerned parties to ensure full and timely settlement of their dues.
The Committee stressed the importance of timely loan repayment to uphold the financial health and operational effectiveness of MIDC Ltd. It reaffirmed its commitment to regular monitoring and oversight, aiming to ensure responsible use of public funds and to support the state’s industrial growth and economic development.
