-State-Level Workshop on TReDS Platform Held in Shillong to Boost MSME Financing Ecosystem-

The Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Meghalaya, successfully organized a State-Level Workshop on the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) today at the Conference Hall within the Directorate campus, Lower Nongrim Hills, Shillong. The workshop was conducted as part of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme, sponsored by Ministry of MSME
and Co-sponsored by World Bank with the objective of creating awareness and facilitating the onboarding of State Government Departments and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) onto the TReDS platform.
The event witnessed active participation from General Managers of District Commerce and Industries Centres (DCICs), representatives from State and Central PSUs, officials from various government departments, banking institutions, and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The training and onboarding session was conducted by Invoicemart, one of the RBI-licensed TReDS platforms.
The program began with a Welcome Address by Shri Shashank Dash, State Lead of the RAMP Program, followed by a Keynote Address by Shri M.L. Wanshnong, Joint Director (HQ), Directorate of Commerce and Industries, who emphasized the role of TReDS in addressing the chronic issue of delayed payments faced by MSMEs.
Shri Rakshit Bhadana, Manager, RBI Shillong, offered insights into the regulatory vision and policy push behind TReDS, reinforcing the central bank’s commitment to digital financial infrastructure. Smt. Nikita Bose, National Head of Invoicemart, delivered the keynote from the platform’s perspective, detailing the operational framework, benefits for stakeholders, and success stories from across the country. The Inaugural Address was delivered by Shri Friday Sutnga, Director of Commerce and Industries, Government of Meghalaya, who officially opened the workshop and urged all departmental and PSU participants to integrate TReDS within their procurement and payment systems.
A detailed presentation and hands-on onboarding session were conducted by Smt. Rajashree Kalita, Manager – East and Northeast, Invoicemart, which was followed by an engaging Q&A session. The workshop concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Daphira Kharjana, Deputy Director (Planning), Directorate of Commerce and Industries.
It may be noted that Government of Meghalaya is the first state from Northeastern Region to sign the MoU with Invoicemart (A joint venture of Axis Bank and mjunction) for implementation of TReDS initiative. This workshop marks a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to promote timely payments and financial sustainability for MSMEs through the adoption of digital platforms under the RAMP scheme.
