
Commemorating the 64th Teachers’ Day, the District School Education Officer, West Jaintia Hills organized a celebration at the District Library Auditorium, Mynthong Jowai to honour the teachers of the district for thier invaluable contributions. The celebration reflects the message, “A teacher affects eternity, they can never tell where their influence stop”.

Local MLA and Chairman MUDA Waildmiki Shylla, attended the celebration as Chief Guest. In his address, Shylla greeted and congratulated all the teachers, describing them as true nation builders who shape the future of students through their dedication and service. He emphasised that Teacher’s Day is not only a celebration of knowledge but also of the value, disciplines and inspiration imparted by teachers. Highlighting that the role of teachers goes far beyond examination, he praised them as mentors who prepare students to face life with confidence and responsibility.

He commended the district teachers for their achievements, expressing pride that schools in the district continue to rank among the top in the state despite various challenges.
He further shared that the government, under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister and Hon’ble Education Minister is strengthening the education sector through initiatives such as school development, the expansion of colleges and setting up of new B.Ed. institutions. While acknowledging that reforms bring challenges, he assured the teachers of the government full support and urged them to continue nurturing students with passion and commitment.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Vevotolu Kezo IAS (SDO Sardar), West Jaintia Hills Jowai. emphasised that while classroom lessons may fade, the guidance, encouragement, confidence and inspiration given by teachers remain with students through their lives. She highlighted that in Meghalaya, teachers carry an even greater responsibility, they are not only educators but also are respected community leaders, cultural custodians and motivators who inspire the students to dream beyond their circumstances. Urging the students to respect and learn from their teachers, she said the best tribute is to live by the values they impart.

As a mark of gratitude to teachers’ students from Thadlaboh Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, Jowai, Panaliar LP School, Jowai, Kiang Nangbah Higher Secondary School, Jowai, Seinraij Higher Secondary School, Jowai, Police Public Secondary School, Jowai, Jaintia Higher Secondary School, Jowai, Ladthalaboh Secondary School, Jowai, Tpep Pale Sec. School, Jowai and Thomas Jones Higher Secondary School presented songs, dance, recitation and musical acts.
