On 08.09.2025, the Court of Smti. P. Syngkon, Special Judge (POCSO), Jowai, West Jaintia Hills, convicted Shri Juh Lhuid under Section 7 of the POCSO Act, punishable under Section 8 of the POCSO Act, 2012.
The case stemmed from an FIR lodged on 16.08.2018 by Shri Dister Sapuh, VDP Dongmihngi, reporting that at around 6:30 PM on the same day, an unknown person attempted to sexually assault three minor girls at Iawthymme, Dongmihngi, Jowai. One of the victims managed to escape, and the vehicle used by the accused and his associates was subsequently detained and handed over to the Police.
Following investigation, the case was registered as Jowai P.S. Case No. 196(8)2018 U/S 9(m)/10/16/17 of the POCSO Act. The investigation, carried out by WPSI I. Kharpran, led to the identification of Shri Juh Lhuid as the accused and subsequent filing of the charge sheet.
Upon conclusion of the trial, the Court sentenced the convict, Shri Juh Lhuid, to 3 years of Rigorous Imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand).
