With aim of strengthening solid waste management system and to promote cleaner and healthier surroundings, Khliehriat MLA, Shri Kyrmen Shylla today handed over a Garbage Truck to Ladrymbai Dongwah Village at a programme held at Ladrymbai Dongwah Community Hall, East Jaintia Hills District. The Garbage Truck was procured under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Scheme, East Jaintia Hills District for the Financial Year 2025-2026.
Also present during the occasion were Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri Shivansh Awasthi, IAS, Headman of Ladrymbai Dongwah, Shri Deibor Suchiang, Village Secretary of Ladrymbai Dongwah, Shri John Pala, community members, students and others.
In his address, Khliehriat MLA, Shri Kyrmen Shylla expressed his satisfaction at witnessing the unity and cooperation among the community leaders of Ladrymbai area who continue to work selflessly for the welfare and development of society. He also extended his gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District for his valuable contribution to the needs of the people of the district through the DMF Scheme even as he commended his idea of introducing waste segregation practices across the district.
Shri Shylla while speaking on different developmental initiatives needed in different areas under his constituency, reaffirmed his commitment to serve the people of his constituency through various support systems available and urged community members of Ladrymbai Dongwah to properly maintain the new Garbage Truck so that it can continue to effectively serve the locality for years to come.
Furthermore, in his concluding speech, Shri Shylla expressed optimism that the newly inaugurated office building of Ladrymbai Dongwah Village functions efficiently in meeting the needs of its residents.
Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri Shivansh Awasthi in his speech during the programme lauded the Headmen and local leaders of Ladrymbai area for their proactive role in addressing issues related to market cleanliness, parking and waste management even as he stated that Ladrymbai, being one of the market centres of the district generates substantial quantity of waste while also taking the occasion to stress on the importance of sustainable waste management and community participation in such efforts.
Shri Awasthi further appealed to the village authorities to ensure proper use and maintenance of the garbage truck, suggesting that user fees from shopkeepers may be charged as it could help in sustaining its operation.
Furthermore, he urged all community leaders, youth and members of the public to work collectively towards maintaining clean and healthy surroundings, ensuring that development and urbanization go hand in hand with environmental preservation.
Later, after the handing over ceremony of the Garbage Truck, Khliehriat MLA, Shri Kyrmen Sylla and Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District jointly inaugurated the new office building of Ladrymbai Dongwah Village.
It may be mentioned that till date, a total number of 6 Garbage Trucks procured under the DMF Scheme have been distributed to different villages under Wapung and Saipung C&RD Blocks of East Jaintia Hills District.
