In order to bridge the gap between classroom and practical industry exposure, the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Khliehriat recently organized a series of industrial visits for trainees from different trades to reputed industrial and technical establishments across Meghalaya.
On 7th August 2025, the trainees of Surface Ornamentation Techniques (Embroidery) Trade (Batch 2024-2026) visited M/s Iaineh Handloom, Mawlong Nongtluh, Ri-Bhoi District. The purpose of the visit was to provide trainees with practical exposure to handloom weaving and embroidery techniques, enabling them to understand the real working environment of the textile and handloom industry.
The visit introduced them to different stages of handloom weaving including fabric preparation, dyeing, design creation and embroidery processes. They also interacted with skilled artisans and got to learn about traditional patterns, colour combinations and modern finishing techniques used in the handloom sector.
On 27th October 2025, the trainees of Driver cum Mechanic (LMV) Trade visited M/s MH & Sons Tata Motors, Thadmuthlong-C, 8th Mile, West Jaintia Hills District in order to gain practical exposure to the functioning and maintenance of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) in a professional automotive workshop. During the visit, trainees gained firsthand experience of light motor vehicle servicing, diagnostics and maintenance.
Trainees also interacted with experienced technicians who guided them on modern automotive systems and safety standards, enriching their understanding of professional vehicle workshop operations thus bridging the gap between class room experience and real-world automotive practices. It also motivated them to develop professional skills required in the automotive sector.
On 6th November 2025, with the objective of providing trainees with practical exposure to the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power as well as to enhance their understanding of the hydroelectric systems and safety procedures, the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Khliehriat organized an industrial visit for the Wireman Trade (Batch 2024–2026) trainees to the Myntdu Leshka Hydro Electric Project, West Jaintia Hills District.
The visit aimed to familiarize trainees with the functioning of turbines, generators and control systems. Engineers and technical staff provided insights into power generation, transmission, and distribution, thereby strengthening the trainees’ theoretical and practical knowledge in electrical systems.
Through these industrial visits, ITI Khliehriat continues to equip its trainees with hands-on knowledge and practical exposure, preparing them to meet industry standards with skill, confidence and professionalism.
