The Warjaintia Students’ Union (WjSU), through its Cultural Cell, has strongly condemned the recent incident in which a statue of Jesus Christ was destroyed at the outskirts of Syiem Jingsuk Parish in Amlarem, under the Amlarem Civil Subdivision.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Union expressed deep concern over the act, describing it as an attack on the long-standing values of peace, unity, and mutual respect that define the Warjaintia region. The WjSU stated that religious discrimination of any kind and against any faith “will not be tolerated,” adding that such incidents undermine the principles of coexistence and cultural harmony.

The Union has urged the authorities and police of the Amlarem Civil Subdivision to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice at the earliest. It reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding religious harmony and protecting the spiritual and cultural sentiments of all communities in the region.

Appealing to the public to maintain peace, the WjSU called for unity and brotherhood during this time of tension.

The statement was issued by Shri Cholki Chyrmang, Cultural Secretary, WjSU Central Body, Amlarem.
