Smt R M Kurbah, IAS yesterday inaugurated the locality beautification project at Umpling in the presence of Shri P T Passah, MCS ADC, Shri S Warjri, MCS Additional Deputy Commissioner and locality members. The project is constructed from funds sanctioned under the Locality Beautification Enhancement Project, which aims to rejuvenate and beautify the towns and localities of Meghalaya, enhance and drive tourism experience in urban areas of Meghalaya and to empower community institutions and instil a sense of civic pride.
The project was sanctioned for Rs 10 lakh under phase 3 of the Competition.
The DC lauded the efforts of the Headman and locality members for undertaking such innovative projects that are not only one of a kind but also blend modern art with our cultural ethos.The Headman of Umpling Shri S F Pyngrope thanked the Office of the Deputy Commissioner for extending financial support to the locality from time to time.
