Yogi Government Scraps Assistant Professor Recruitment ,On January 7, 2026, the Uttar Pradesh government ordered the immediate cancellation of the Assistant Professor recruitment examination (Advertisement No. 51) following a detailed probe by the Special Task Force (STF) that confirmed a major paper leak and extortion racket. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took the decision after the STF arrested three key suspects, including Mehboob Ali, a confidential assistant to the former Commission Chairperson, who reportedly confessed to accessing and selling question papers during the moderation process. The cancellation affects approximately 1.14 lakh candidates who competed for 1,017 posts in government-aided degree colleges; meanwhile, the UP Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has been directed to reschedule the exam at the earliest with enhanced security protocols to ensure a “fair and transparent” process.
