West Jaintia Hills District Police has issued an advisory regarding the fraudulent file “RTO CHALLAN.APK” that is being circulated through social media platforms and messaging applications.
The file is suspected to contain malicious software (Malware) that can compromise the security of mobile devices and may steal personal or financial information.

The District Police office has urged the public to stay alert and aware of such cyber frauds and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the concerned authorities.

The Member of the public are advised to follow these safety measures:

·         Do not download, install, or open any apk file received from unknown or unverified sources.

·         Do not click on suspicious links claiming to be traffic challans, fines, rewards, or government notices.

·         Verify any traffic challan or notice only through official government websites or authorised applications.

If you have already installed the file, immediately:

·         Disconnect your device from the internet.

·         Uninstall the suspicious application.

·         Change passwords of important accounts, especially banking and email accounts.

·         Scan the device using a trusted antivirus application.

·         Report such suspicious messages to the nearest police station or cybercrime authorities.
