The Hon’ble Minister of Education, Government of Meghalaya, Shri Lahkmen Rymbui, attended the Valedictory Ceremony of the Student Delegation from Telangana as the Chief Guest at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong. The programme was organised under the collaborative initiative involving the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal and hosted by IIM Shillong.
The ceremony was attended by officials and faculty members from both institutions, including the Nodal Officers of IIM Shillong and NIT Warangal, along with the student delegates from Telangana who had participated in the educational and cultural exchange programme.
Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Minister highlighted the importance of national integration, mutual respect, and cultural exchange among the youth of India. He noted that while India’s diversity is reflected in its many languages, traditions, cultures, and ways of life, these differences only strengthen the nation’s unity.
The Minister remarked that the delegates had the opportunity to experience Meghalaya first hand and understand its people, culture, and traditions. He emphasized that every region of India contributes to the nation’s collective identity and that no force can divide the spirit of unity that binds Indians together.
Speaking on the values of humanity and citizenship, the Minister stated that beyond all differences, the most important identity is that of being a human being. He encouraged the students to carry this spirit wherever they go and to contribute positively to society, their communities, and the nation.
He further observed that Indians living across the world continue to maintain a deep connection with their homeland and remain committed to contributing to India’s progress. He urged the delegates to become ambassadors of Meghalaya and the North East, sharing their experiences and promoting a better understanding of the region among their peers and communities.
The Minister described the delegates as fortunate to have participated in such a unique educational exchange programme that allowed them to engage with different cultures, learn from one another, and build lasting friendships. He commended IIM Shillong, NIT Warangal, faculty members, organisers, and support staff for creating an enriching and welcoming environment for the students.
Highlighting Meghalaya’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and traditions, the Minister encouraged the delegates to cherish the lessons learned during their stay and to continue fostering bonds of friendship and understanding across regions.
“Let us live as brothers and sisters. Let us learn from one another, respect one another, and carry a sense of duty towards humanity and society. Together, we can build a stronger and more united India,” the Minister said.
The programme concluded with the distribution of Valedictory Certificates by the Hon’ble Minister to all participating delegates, recognising their successful completion of the exchange programme. The ceremony ended on a note of gratitude, celebration, and renewed commitment to strengthening national unity through education, cultural understanding, and youth engagement.
