This is for the information of the general public, particularly the youth of East Jaintia Hills District, that the Office of the District Sports Officer (DSO), East Jaintia Hills District in collaboration with the offices of the Block Development Officers of Wapung, Lumshnong and Saipung C&RD Blocks is set to organize the Block Level “Chief Minister’s Youth Engagement Programme (CM-YEP) 2026” under the theme “Young Meghalaya, Shaping Tomorrow”. The programme aims to provide a platform for young people to showcase their talents, creativity, knowledge and cultural skills while encouraging greater participation and engagement among the youth of Meghalaya.
The programme is open to participants from schools, colleges, youth clubs, cultural clubs, societies and individuals. Eligible participants should be in the age group 15–29 years, while dropouts with a minimum qualification of Class VIII pass are also eligible to participate. Participants are also required to produce domicile proof of Meghalaya.
The competitive events will include solo categories such as Solo Guitar, Solo Flute, Poetry, Story Writing, Painting and Declamation, and group categories including Folk Song, Folk Dance, Innovation in Science and Technology, Quiz Competition, One Act Play and Tug of War.
For Lumshnong C&RD Block, registration forms must be submitted by 3rd September, 2026, and the programme will be held on 8th and 9th September, 2026 at Lumshnong Community Hall. For Wapung C&RD Block, the last date for submission of registration forms is on 3rd September, 2026, while the programme will be held on 10th and 11th September 2026 at Dkhiah West Community Hall and for Saipung C&RD Block, the last date for submission of registration forms is on 10th September, 2026, with the programme scheduled to be held on the 15th and 16th September, 2026 at Latyrke Community Hall.
The District Sports Office encourages all eligible youth from the respective blocks to actively participate in the programme and make use of the opportunity to showcase their talents, creativity and skills, while contributing towards building a vibrant, confident and empowered young Meghalaya.
