The Election Commission of India (ECI) is conducting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2026 to ensure inclusion of every eligible elector and exclusion of all ineligible entries with complete transparency and public participation. In accordance with the SIR schedule for Meghalaya, the Draft Electoral Roll has been published on 5th August, 2026, commencing the Claims and Objections Period, which will remain open up to 4th September, 2026.
Key Highlights:
1. Successful Completion of House-to-House Enumeration
The House-to-House Enumeration was successfully completed on 29th July, 2026, with 100% Enumeration Form distribution achieved across the district.
Out of 1,04,417 registered electors, 96,791 Enumeration Forms (92.70%) have been digitized and verified by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), reflecting the dedicated efforts of the election machinery.

3. Uncollectable Enumeration Forms (UEFs)
A total of 7,626 Enumeration Forms (7.30%) have been classified as Uncollectable Enumeration Forms (UEFs) after due field verification. These include cases where the elector:
- is deceased,
- has permanently shifted,
- is already enrolled elsewhere,
- could not be traced despite repeated visits, or
- falls under other categories prescribed by the Election Commission of India.
4. Publication of Draft Electoral Roll
The Draft Electoral Roll has been published on 5th August, 2026. Printed copies are available with the respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs). Electors may also verify their names through the ECINET Mobile App or the Voters’ Service Portal.
5. Claims and Objections
The Claims and Objections Period will remain open from 5th August to 4th September, 2026. During this period:
- Eligible persons whose names are not included in the Draft Electoral Roll may apply for inclusion using Form 6.
- Objections regarding inclusion or requests for deletion of ineligible entries may be submitted in Form 7.
- Corrections, change of address, replacement of EPIC or updating particulars may be made using Form 8.
- Overseas electors may apply using Form 6A.
6. Assistance to Electors
Electors may:
- Contact their respective Booth Level Officer (BLO).
- Visit the office of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO).
- Approach the SIR Help Desk established at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District.
Election officials and volunteers will continue to assist senior citizens, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), and other vulnerable groups throughout the Claims and Objections period.
Appeal to the Public
The District Election Officer appeals to all electors to carefully verify their names and particulars in the Draft Electoral Roll. If any eligible elector’s name is missing, or if any correction is required, the necessary application should be submitted during the Claims and Objections Period (5th August to 4th September, 2026).
The District Election Administration also requests the continued cooperation of Village Authorities, Dorbar Shnongs, community leaders, political parties, Booth Level Agents (BLAs), civil society organisations and the general public to ensure that every eligible elector is included and every ineligible entry is addressed in accordance with the law.
The Election Commission of India remains committed to a transparent, participative and inclusive revision process, ensuring that no eligible elector is left out and no ineligible entry remains in the Electoral Roll.
