
As part of the celebration of National Unity Day, the office of the Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District today the 31st October, 2025 organized an open to all marathon for both male and female participants, along the route starting from the office of the Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District to Rymbai Village via old Deputy Commissioner’s Office and back.
The 10 Km run was flagged by Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri Vikash Kumar, IPS, in the presence of Additional Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District Shri Baniateilang Deingngan, MPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri Saurav Kumar Saini, IPS, and other Police officials.
Therun witnessed the enthusiastic participation of both male and female participants, including senior citizens who are above 50 years old of age and children who are under 10 years.
Before the commencement of the run, all dignitaries and participants led by Assistant Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri Saurav Kumar Saini, IPS took a solemn pledge to uphold and preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation.
Winners of the marathon were awarded cash prizes along with medals, trophies and certificatesin both male and female categories. The first prize carried a cash award of Rs. 10000/- (Ten Thousand Only), the second prize Rs. 7000/- (Seven thousand only) and third prize received Rs. 5000/-(Five thousand only). Special prizes were also given to both senior- most and youngest participants in both categories.
In the male category, KnerlangPhawa won the first prize, Mebansainborlang Pathaw bagged the second prize and DaiohiMitre Pale secured the third prize.
In the female category, JidalinTympuin clinched the first prize while PhyrnaiKyndait and Pinky Lamurong secured the second and third prizes respectively.
Special prizes were given to youngest participants, Mr. Meban Sumer and Peter Sutong while, Smti. Rimika Pyrtuh and Shri Lam Shadap awarded special prizes for oldest participants in the event. It may be mentioned that Run for Unity was organized to commemorate National Unity Day (Rastiya Ekta Diwas), marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, with the aim to promote physical fitness, national integration and unity among citizens.
