The District Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition 2025-2026 conducted by the office of the District School EducationOfficer, West Jaintia Hill on 26th March, 2026 at Jowai Public School, saw active participation from various schools. The exhibition was organised on the theme, “STEM for Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat”. Students presented a wide range of creativity and innovative models.

            Addressing the students, District School Education Officer Dr. (Smt) Wa-i-sa Sumer emphasised the main objective of the exhibition was not only to display models but also to apply knowledge in real life situations and developed scientific thinking. She highlighted the significance of the exhibition in alignment with the national vision of Viksit Bharat, stating that such exhibitions play an important role in preparing students to contribute towards a developed India by 2047.

            She further stated that although science exhibitions are common academic activities, the introduction of a specific theme helps align students, teachers and institutions with national goals and encourages students to think beyond the classroom and textbooks. She noted that exhibitions provided a platform for students to showcase their talents, creativity, innovation and practical skills, while also developing confidence and teamwork.

            Emphasising the importance of being inquisitive and innovative, she encouraged the students to think of practical solutions to real life problems such as waste management and other community related issues. Dr. Sumer encouraged students to remain curious, creative and continue learning and expressed her appreciation to all students for their efforts and participation.

            She also inspected the models and interacted with the students, praising their efforts and encouraging them to continue innovating and learning.

            In the competition, North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Jowai was awarded the first prize, while Jowai Public School and Marian Higher Secondary School, Jowai secured the Second and third place respectively.

            Among those present were the Principal of Jowai Public School Shri. Mardor Sing Kharshiing, teachers and students.
