
Upon receipt of information last evening regarding the presence of a body inside an abandoned coal mine at Mulaibrisumer village under Mooriap Border Out Post, East Jaintia Hills District, a team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was immediately mobilized for rescue and recovery operations.
The SDRF team, led by Sub-Inspector D. Kharbhih, departed from Headquarters at 05:30 hours today and reached the incident site at approximately 10:30 hours. Immediately upon arrival, the team commenced the rescue and recovery operation.
With the assistance of the QRT Civil Defence Khliehriat, three SDRF personnel, comprising of G/M F. Shangrit, G/M A. Dhar, and G/M M. Chyrmang, descended into the abandoned coal mine with the support of a crane system to retrieve the floating body.
At approximately 11:15 hours, the team successfully recovered the body of an unidentified male, estimated to be between 30–40 years of age.
Following the successful retrieval operation, the body was handed over to the Police authorities for further necessary legal formalities and investigation.
The SDRF commends the coordinated efforts of all personnel involved in the operation and reiterates its commitment to prompt emergency response and public safety.
