The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides held its 29th State Council Meeting at the P. R. Bazley Hall, State Headquarters, Shillong, on August 15, 2026, at 11:00 am. The meeting was chaired by Shri P. K. Mantri, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary, Education Department and State Chief Commissioner, Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides, in the absence of Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya and President, Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides.

The meeting began with a heartfelt obituary reference and a moment of silent prayer in honour of late Smti. R. V. Suchiang, IAS, former Chief Secretary and former President of the State Association.

The agenda covered several crucial resolutions aimed at advancing the objectives of the Scouts and Guides Movement, particularly those focused on the empowerment and development of youth in the state.

During the meeting, the State Chief Commissioner released the Annual Report for the year 2025-26, highlighting the exceptional commitment of the council members towards the cause of the Movement.

In his closing remarks, the State Chief Commissioner expressed gratitude to the council members for their unwavering commitment and stressed the need to enhance census and membership among young people across the state. He called for sustained focus and persistent efforts from all stakeholders to strengthen grassroots initiatives and achieve the vision of the Movement.

The meeting concluded with the National Anthem, reaffirming the unity and shared vision that continues to drive the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides Movement forward.
