On the occasion of Independence Day 2026, Havildar Lathindro D. Sangma, Civil Defence and Home Guards Department, Meghalaya, has been awarded the prestigious Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) in recognition of his dedicated, courageous, unwavering devotion to duty, and exemplary service to the nation.
As per an official communication received from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Havildar Sangma is one amongst 18 (Eighteen) recipients from Civil Defence & Home Guards Department across the country. The total service medals and gallantry medals of four organizations namely the Police, Fire Service, Home Guard & Civil Defence and Correctional Service is 664.
Havildar Lathindro D Sangma is serving as Havildar Instructor at the District Training Centre, Home Guards, West Garo Hills, Tura.
