Two masked persons allegedly hurled a petrol bomb at the office of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) at Lumpyngngad, Shillong, on Monday afternoon.

According to a press release issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, the incident occurred at around 12:10 PM. The petrol bomb struck the outer wall of the building before the attackers fled the scene.

Police said the blast caused discoloration to the wall, but no injuries or casualties were reported.

Following the incident, police personnel rushed to the spot, while the Crime Scene Unit was called in to collect evidence and document the scene.

A case has been registered at Laitumkhrah Police Station under Case No. 121(08)2026 under Sections 324(3), 326(g), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation has been launched.

Security has been tightened at the premises of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board, and the East Khasi Hills District Police said efforts are underway to identify and arrest those responsible for the attack.
